Spidey And His Amazing Friends Wiki

Aunt May is a supporting character of Marvel's Spidey and his Amazing Friends. She is Peter Parker/Spidey's aunt who raises and takes care of him in their house. Despite being like a mother towards Peter rather than an aunt, she is unaware of his secret identity as Spidey, and is also unaware that his friends Gwen Stacy and Miles Morales are Ghost Spider and Spin.

Personality

Aunt May loves her nephew Peter Parker, whom she raises like a son. She supports his love of science, allowing him to try out his inventions. She cares a lot about him and his friends, as she went out to buy their favourite ice-cream flavours in the episode Spidey to the Power of Three, and asked them whether there was anything she could get for them in the episode Gob-zilla. Aunt May also gets along well with the parents of Peter's friends, seen in the episode A Very Spidey Christmas.

Similar to Miles, she likes a variety of things such as fresh fruit and vegetables from the Farmer's Market, listening to music with her earphones, and old objects like those from an antique store, and unfortunately, liking those said things sometimes lead to problems, in Aunt May's case, her earphones prevent her from noticing the nearby danger by preventing her from hearing people's panicking and the supervillains' attacking, while her curiosity with the unusual objects in the antique store led her to unknowingly picking up Doc Ock's Octo-Floater and activating it in the episode Aunt May's Mess.

Appearance

Aunt May wears golden glasses, silver hoop-shaped earrings, yellow long-sleeved shirt with orange accents and a pair of jeans. She also has long brown hair, blue eyes, an orange headband tied around her head and red lipstick. She wears a gold and silver bracelet on her right wrist. She also wears a double-banded gold ring on her right index finger and a silver ring on her left thumb. On her feet, she wears a pair of red and white shoes.

Trivia

  • Unlike most versions of Aunt May from other animated media, this version of Aunt May does not have grey nor white hair like an elderly's, since this version of Aunt May is younger.
  • May's physical appearances are heavily based on Marisa Tomei's iconic portrayal of the character, from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, from 2016's Captain America: Civil War to 2021's Spider-Man: No Way Home.
  • Aunt May's voice actress Melanie Minichino has previously voiced a spider-themed superhero, Anya Corazon/Spider-Girl in the 2017 animated TV Series Marvel's Spider-Man. Aswell as her being the current female announcer of the Disney Jr. channel.
  • Since Peter kept his identity secret from Aunt May, as Spidey, he calls her Ma'm, and refers to her as 'that lady' when addressing her around his team and Doc Ock in the episode Aunt May's Mess.
  • A running gag in the first season is Aunt May being near to the danger of supervillain attacks, but is completely unaware of it. Occured in the episodes Panther Patience, Lost and Found, Gob-zilla and Aunt May's Mess.
    • In the Season 2 episode Little Ant, Big Problem a similar situation of Aunt May being near danger without knowing it, occured; Peter/Spidey's pet ant Antonello being grown to the size of a dog and running around the house, as an ant that big can be very dangerous given ants can lift about 10-50 times their weight. Fortunately, Antonello was more interested in Aunt May's food and never got to interact with her when he was bigger.
  • Aunt May had brief interactions with the supervillains in the episodes Attack of the Green Giggles when Green Goblin caught her attention before releasing Giggle Gas, and A Very Spidey Christmas when Doc Ock took presents from her.
    • In the episode Pirate Plunder Blunder, she is brainwashed into being part of Green Goblin's pirate crew, obeying his orders and interacting with a villain while being under their control for the first time.
  • She is aware of supervillain attacks in the episodes Attack of the Green Giggles, A Very Spidey Christmas, Bridge Bandit and A Pumpkin Problem.
  • It is unknown if she's either widowed or divorced, as Uncle Ben is never seen or mentioned in the show.
  • She physically saw Black Panther in the episode Panther Patience and waved to him, making him the first supporting hero whom she is seen interacting with.
